Launched at the London Book Fair last month, Sounded.com’s patent pending AutoAudio™ technology and author platform is making strides in disrupting the audiobook market.
Its AutoAudio™ suite of tools to give writers, authors and storytellers everything they need to turn their written work into an audiobook; quickly but also with real time editing and customisation.
The speed at which the narration happens as well as providing full control to writers, authors and storytellers smashes down the existing barriers within the publishing industry in taking a written work from print to audiobook. Current time frames can take months to get an audiobook production finalised.
For independent authors wanting their stories to be enjoyed by new audiences and publishing houses with back catalogues, this barrier has now been removed and they have access to all the tools needed to create an audiobook from their work, but most importantly allow them full control of the process from uploading the file themselves, to editing chapters by line, event adjusting the tone and speed of pronunciation of words.
With storytellers able to choose from one or more of over 800 available narrators, in over 50 languages and 160 regional dialects, and real time translations available, exploiting rights in audio format has never been easier.
Sounded’s showcase of 1984 is designed to do this. The company confirmed its plans to release more language options in the coming weeks for all time classics too.
Chris Kissack, Chief Brand Officer of Sounded.com said “Over the course of the next 12 months our plans include releasing our catalogue of over 30,000 OOP books, with multiple language options too. As more authors and publishers engage with our platform, existing works will also be brought to life in audio format, which before would never have a voice.”
Jason Kelly, Chief Legal Officer of Sounded.com added “By releasing over 20 language options for 1984, including in Spanish, French, Hindi, Portuguese, Mandarin, Cantonese to name a few, we’re making audiobooks more accessible to listeners across different markets, something massively important right now for audio formats.”
David Brown, Chief Technical Officer of Sounded.com said “George Orwell’s 1984 is such an iconic book. It’s perhaps more important now more than ever. Our language capabilities for existing and back catalogues are a real game changer for audiobooks. Our proprietary tool-set is available for authors and publishers to use at our Audiobook Authorship Portal.
Sounded.com has confirmed it plans to release Grimm’s Fairy Tales in over 20 languages in the next month too. Watch this space! It is currently releasing around 100 audiobooks a week from its own catalogue and will scale operations in the coming weeks.
