Victor Appleton was a pseudonym used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate, a group of writers who produced popular children's books in the early 20th century. The true identity of the author behind the name Victor Appleton is unknown, as the Stratemeyer Syndicate used ghostwriters to produce their books.
Tom Swift among the Diamond Makers was one of the many books produced under the Victor Appleton name. The book was first published in 1911 and follows the adventures of Tom Swift, a young inventor who creates a machine that can turn coal into diamonds. The book was a popular success and spawned a series of Tom Swift books that continued to be published under the Victor Appleton name for many years.
Other popular works produced under the Victor Appleton name include the Tom Swift Jr. series, which followed the adventures of Tom Swift's son, and the Ted Scott Flying Stories, which focused on the adventures of a young pilot.
