Ortensio Lando was an Italian writer and humanist born in 1512 in the city of Venice. He was a prolific author, writing on a wide range of topics including philosophy, history, and economics. Lando was also known for his translations of classical works, such as the works of Aristotle and Plutarch. Lando was educated in Venice and later studied law at the University of Padua. He worked as a lawyer for a short time before turning to writing full-time. Lando's most famous work is The Frugal Life, which was published in 1565. The book is a guide to living a simple and frugal life, and it became very popular in Italy and throughout Europe. In addition to The Frugal Life, Lando wrote several other books on economics and finance, including The Art of Trading and The Art of Money.
