Leslie Brooke was an English author and illustrator born on November 29, 1862, in Beccles, Suffolk. He was the son of a clergyman and grew up in a family of artists. Brooke attended the Royal Academy of Arts in London and later worked as a teacher and an artist. Brooke is best known for his children's books, which he both wrote and illustrated. His first book, "Johnny Crow's Garden," was published in 1903 and was an instant success. The book featured rhyming stories and illustrations of animals, which became a signature style of Brooke's work. In 1906, Brooke published "The Golden Goose Book," which included classic fairy tales such as "The Three Bears" and "Tom Thumb." The book was a commercial success and was followed by "The Three Little Pigs" in 1908. Brooke's most famous work is "Little Bo-Peep," which was published in 1905.
