Jules Verne was a French novelist, poet, and playwright born on February 8, 1828, in Nantes, France. He was the eldest of five children and grew up in a family of lawyers. His father wanted him to follow in his footsteps, but Verne had a passion for writing and storytelling.
Verne began writing at a young age, but it wasn't until he was in his thirties that he began to gain recognition for his work. His first success came with the publication of his novel "Five Weeks in a Balloon" in 1863. This was followed by a string of popular novels, including "Journey to the Center of the Earth" (1864), "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" (1870), and "Around the World in Eighty Days" (1873).
Verne's works were known for their vivid descriptions of exotic locations and their use of science and technology. He was often referred to as the "father of science fiction" and his works have been adapted into numerous films, television shows, and stage productions.
