Johannes Scotus was a pseudonym used by the American author, Robert Ervin Howard. He was born on January 22, 1906, in Peaster, Texas, and grew up in a small town called Cross Plains. Howard was an avid reader and began writing at a young age. He was particularly interested in history, mythology, and adventure stories.
Howard's most famous creation was the character Conan the Barbarian, who first appeared in a series of short stories published in the pulp magazine Weird Tales in the 1930s. Conan was a fierce warrior from the fictional land of Cimmeria, and his adventures took him across the world, battling monsters, sorcerers, and other foes.
In addition to Conan, Howard wrote many other stories in a variety of genres, including horror, westerns, and historical fiction. Some of his other notable characters include Solomon Kane, a Puritan adventurer, and Bran Mak Morn, a Celtic warrior.
