George Eli Hall was an American author, born in 1862 in New York City. Not much is known about his early life, but he was a prolific writer of short stories and articles for various magazines and newspapers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Hall's most famous work is the short story "A Balloon Ascension at Midnight," which was first published in the New York Sun in 1890. The story is a fantastical tale of a man who takes a balloon ride at midnight and encounters strange and wondrous creatures in the sky. In addition to "A Balloon Ascension at Midnight," Hall wrote several other short stories and articles for publications such as Harper's Weekly, The Atlantic Monthly, and The Saturday Evening Post. Many of his stories were science fiction or fantasy, and he was known for his vivid imagination and descriptive writing style.
