Anthony Trollope was an English novelist born on April 24, 1815, in London, England. He was the third of six children born to Thomas Anthony Trollope, a barrister, and Frances Trollope, a well-known writer. Trollope's childhood was marked by financial difficulties, and he was sent to school in Harrow, where he excelled in classical studies. In 1834, Trollope began working for the British Post Office, where he remained for 33 years. During this time, he wrote in his spare time, publishing his first novel, The Macdermots of Ballycloran, in 1847. His breakthrough novel, The Warden, was published in 1855 and was the first of six novels in the Chronicles of Barsetshire series. Trollope's writing was characterized by his attention to detail and his ability to create complex, realistic characters. He was also known for his satirical wit and his exploration of social issues, particularly those related to class and gender.
