Abbie Farwell Brown was an American author born on August 21, 1871, in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Benjamin F. Brown, a prominent businessman, and Clara Neal Brown, a writer and poet. Abbie grew up in a literary household and was exposed to literature from a young age. Abbie attended Radcliffe College and graduated in 1893. After graduation, she worked as a teacher and a librarian. She also began writing children's books, which became her primary focus. Her first book, The Book of Saints and Friendly Beasts, was published in 1900 and became an instant success. She went on to write over 40 books for children, including fairy tales, myths, and legends. One of Abbie's most famous works is What Luck!, which was published in 1910. The book tells the story of a young girl named Molly who goes on a magical adventure with a leprechaun. The book was well-received and is still popular today.
